Early Life

Thomas Lee Killingsworth, Jr., affectionately known as Tommy, was born on July 30, 1958, in San Diego, California, to Thomas and Minnie Killingsworth. Growing up in Southeast San Diego alongside his sister Sheilah, Tommy was known for his adventurous spirit and passion for sports, especially baseball. He attended Point Loma High School, where he excelled in both football and baseball, showcasing his natural athletic abilities.

Career and Accomplishments

Tommy pursued a fulfilling career as an electrical time signal tech with the San Diego Unified School District. His dedication and hard work left a lasting impact on the many school sites he served. Over his 36 years of employment, Tommy earned the respect and friendship of countless colleagues across the district. Known for his unwavering work ethic and significant contributions, Tommy retired on June 30, 2017, leaving behind a legacy of excellence and camaraderie.

Family and Personal Life

In his union with Melody, Tommy was blessed with two children, Nicole and Thomas III. Family was the cornerstone of Tommy’s life. He built a strong foundation for his family, always encouraging his children to strive for excellence, work hard, and never settle for less.

Tommy had a deep love for riding his motorcycle and an innate curiosity for understanding how things worked—a passion he developed early on with his father. He enjoyed building and fixing things, always eager to learn something new. One of Tommy’s greatest joys was attending his grandchildren’s games, regardless of the sport. His love for music was vast, spanning multiple genres and decades, but his heart belonged to the Dodgers. A lifelong fan, Tommy cherished every opportunity to watch his favorite team play, especially at Dodger Stadium. Family gatherings, backyard barbecues, and holidays were special to Tommy, as they allowed him to spend precious time with his loved ones.

Survivors

Tommy is survived by his children, Nicole Killingsworth-Lynch and Thomas Killingsworth III; his grandchildren, JaNina Lynch, DaSean Thomas Lynch, Thomas Killingsworth IV, Jadiel Killingsworth, Zion Killingsworth, and Amani Killingsworth; and his great-grandchildren, Aaryn Lynch and Ariya Lynch. He also leaves behind his sister, Sheilah Killingsworth-Thomas, and a host of nephews, nieces, both biological and bonus. Tommy was predeceased by his loving parents, Thomas and Minnie Killingsworth.
