Lucy Marjorie Brame, 96, often known as Cookie, passed away on November 16, 2022, in Santee, CA after a long struggle with Alzheimer’s Dementia. Her family and loving caretakers were at her side.
Lucy was born August 9, 1926, in St. Louis MO to Mildred Lucy Stoddard and William Newton. Mildred remarried Fred Orlando Scott and together raised Lucy, along with four other children in St. Louis. After World War II, Lucy married Clinton George Brame and began their lives together having four children. Lucy and Clinton’s first-born son, Dennis Scott Brame, sadly passed at the age of 18 months on February 1, 1949. In 1952, Lucy and Clinton relocated to California and raised their family in Orange County, CA.
During her life Lucy worked as a Dental Office Manager, owned her own Diet Center, and as a general merchandiser. She had an affinity for ceramics and a one point had her own kiln and a home ceramic arts studio. In 1960 Lucy was selected as one of only 200 women in California to serve as a “Golden Girl for Kennedy”. These select women served as hostesses during the Los Angeles Democratic National Convention nomination process for then Senator John F. Kennedy. This was a major highlight in Lucy’s life.
Lucy was proceeded in death by her husband Clinton G. Brame, her son Dennis Scott Brame, her parents Mildred and William, stepfather Fred, and her sisters Mildred, Laverta, and Mata. She was also proceeded in death by her second husband, Raymond Glanzer. Ray and his first wife Ginny, and Clinton and Lucy were lifelong friends. Clinton and Ray met on the beaches of the battle for Tarawa during World War II as they served in the US Marine Corps.
Lucy is survived by her daughter Diane, son Brian (Edith) son Kevin (Terra), brother Norman Scott (Eddy), Granddaughters Stephanie, Jessica, Mary Elizabeth, Lauren, and Kelli, Grandsons Timothy, and Eric, six great grandchildren, numerous nephews, nieces, and her forever loving dog, Max.
Visitation will be held December 5, 2022, 2:00 – 4:00 p.m., Care Center Cremation and Burial Chapel, 7403 Princess View Drive, Suite E, San Diego, CA 92120
Burial services will be held December 6, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. at the Riverside National Cemetery, 22495 Van Buren Blvd, March Air Reserve Base, CA 92518
